ABRSM EXAM & ASSESSMENT The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music was founded in 1889 as the outcome of a proposition by Sir Alexander MacKenzie, principal of the Royal Academy of Music, to Sir George Grove, director of the Royal College of Music, that their two pre-eminent musical training institutions unite to create an examining body ‘inspired by disinterested motives for the benefit of musical education. The purpose of the exam is to give students a clear and progressive framework to measure musical development. Students are required to participate in the course for a minimum of 6 months in preparation for the exam before applying to the exams. This course will be suitable for students who are interested in getting started for the first time or for students who are already on the exam path. Limited to age 7 and above. Classes will meet once a week, one hour each class, and sessions will run throughout the year. There will be hand-outs, assignments and practice exams. Students will be given a book list to purchase prior to the first class. Minimum 4 students and maximum 10 students per class. Application Process: Students & parents are responsible for submitting the application directly. We do not offer assistance in filling out the application at the moment. Class Schedule: Grade 1~4 TBA in the Fall. Grade 5-8 TBA in the Fall. All instructors all pass ABRSM Grade 8 Theory and Instrumental Exams.
